The life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
Among Allah's favours to me: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died in my house, on my day, resting between my chest and my throat, and Allah joined my saliva and his at his death. Abd ar-Rahman came in with a siwak (tooth-stick) in his hand while I was supporting the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I saw him looking at it, and I knew he loved the siwak, so I said: "Shall I take it for you?" He nodded yes. I handed it to him, but it was too hard for him, so I said: "Shall I soften it for you?" He nodded yes, and I softened it. In front of him was a vessel of water; he would dip his hands in it and wipe his face, saying: "There is no god but Allah; death truly has its throes." Then he raised his hand and began saying: "With the Highest Companion", until his soul was taken and his hand fell.
