The life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
When the verse "And warn your nearest kinsfolk" was revealed, the Prophet ﷺ climbed as-Safa and began calling: "O Banu Fihr! O Banu Adi!" — the clans of Quraysh — until they gathered; a man who could not come out sent someone to see what it was. Abu Lahab and Quraysh came. He said: "If I told you that horsemen in the valley were about to attack you, would you believe me?" They said: "Yes, we have only ever found truth in you." He said: "Then I am a warner to you of a severe punishment ahead." Abu Lahab said: "Ruin to you for the rest of the day! Is this what you gathered us for?" Then it was revealed: "Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he! His wealth and what he earned will not avail him."
